Why do I shoot and love photography?

I had been thinking of this question - Why do I love taking pics? Why do I shoot? Why do I take the "pain" of carrying cameras and lenses when pics can be taken using phones? These are questions from my near and dear ones to prick my brain to see what is it that I like about photography. This led me to a train of thoughts, I gave quite a bit of time to think about it - when riding to office, when taking a walk alone and so on. It has always been about seeing the smile on my loved ones when I show them a pic that I had taken, that takes them back to the time (it was taken). There is a lot of chaos in our lives (everyone's lives), lot of fear (of many uncertainties). For me, it is when I see this pics and when I share them with my loved ones, I see Hope. I see happiness. Hope of having a great time ahead, Happiness that there was such a time, which was else forgotten in our busy-ness of the lives.  I live for seeing such emotions. I live t...

Transformations of a tree - Welcoming Spring!!

Welcoming Spring When would that tree over there start showing life? - Asked my mother-in-law, who was visiting us from India, to help us welcome our little one. This was indeed a spring that we were waiting for. In a week or so Amma- replied me. She was interested to see how the tree transformed and there she gave me a good project for my photography. Trying and getting the pic of the tree daily to see and enjoy the transformation, to remember it as a memory of her first spring in the US. Thus started this. It was difficult to get this done every day - remember the new born :) (rushing to the office and other chores made it hard to capture it daily.)  Day 1 Day 2 Day 3 Day 4 Day 5 Day 6 Day 7 This remi nds me that the only thing that is static i n this wor ld is Change. Confusing.. huh?!?
